Anyone who knows me well can ascertain my love of a white house. There is no other for me. I also love houses that have a direct connectedness to the outdoors. We have a courtyard entrance to our house so I'm constantly saving imagery that I could use in that space & other parts of our grounds.

And, here's our courtyard. We love it, so pretty to walk through daily to the front door. One of the best ideas I've had yet was to tent our courtyard for a really, fun party. Images below!

ReplyDeleteEthereal! I'm "playing dress up" with our lower deck, too. Painted one wall lime green...aqua lutyens bench...garden stools...FUN!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize how important the indoor/outdoor connection was to me until after I moved into my new house - so I feel very fortunate that our lot supported that connection (so many lots in Atlanta have a steep drop off the back, making a deck or raised terrace more of a reality than a walk out back yard). My landscape architect told me that my landscape design would not make sense until it was actually installed, and he was right - all of the dirt and rocks and retaining walls made it hard to see what the end result would be.
ReplyDeleteHowever, one of my favorite things about the house is the landscape design, and how well the house sits in its environment, how we have a direct connection between the house and the back - and how private it is back there!
