Year End Thanks!

I've got to tell you I feel blessed & lucky to have such a fully vibrant business & life.  We've had an amazing year, wrapped up simply projects a designer dreams of & are ready for 2012.

With the opening of Memphis' new culinary destination, ACRE, we've had amazing reviews from people near & far.  It was a project like no other, a dream job & I can't wait to tackle another just like it....waiting for the phone to ring, ding, ding.  Here are a few images for those who haven't had the opportunity to visit.

It isn't like Roberto Dutesco works of art were undiscovered, but meeting him personally & making these selections from his New York gallery was a highlight of this project

A massive thanks is in order for the team at Gwen Driscoll Designs.  We have an amazing group of people who work hard every day, treat projects as if it's their own & are truly committed to our amazing clients.  More on them later, they get their very own post!

And, to all my blog readers & fellow bloggers who visit regularly & give me inspiration to last a lifetime.  I feel lucky to be a part of this amazing community that consists of the absolute best of the best.  I took a blog break mid-year & felt a major void in my life.  Thank you for the many emails or messages begging me to return to Ragland Hill Social.  It showed me my eyes & voice are worthy of a contribution to the World of Blog & that feels good.

I also spent the last year as a member of Tobi Fairley's Mastermind Group.  I've had great success in focusing on the "business" side of interior design.  Tobi is an amazing force in the interior design field.  She has shown great leadership ability & truly is a master in all things business.  Thanks Tobi!

Also many thanks to my great friend, client, business advisor & much more, Jane Scott Hodges, founder of Leontine Linens.  You can see Jane Scott's latest amazing spread in Matchbook Magazine.  You can also visit my website here, to see her fabulous house featured in Elle Decor.  I designed it!  Our daily calls, emails, text messages, etc. have given me a boost when I've needed it & much laughter to treasure.  Our friendship, rooted in youthful memories, has grown into much more & I'm grateful for your support!  Thanks!

NYC for Lucy's 10th Birthday
Well, you know, Roll Tide!

Big thanks are in order to my amazing family, Lucy & Michael. Your daily support & encouragement is irreplaceable & will be forever cherished.  Michael has spent many a night giving me encouragement, listening ears & sound advice when it was much needed.  Thanks Mikey!

And, last by not least, to my amazing clients, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.  YOU ARE  truly, treasures!  I love spending time with you each week, can't wait to make your homes special, & feel very lucky to have such a premier group to call my own.

I can't wait to share all the exciting news for our business, now Driscoll Design Group.  We've had amazing growth & a much needed facelift.  We'll be working on getting our website, blog, email, etc. integrated in the coming weeks.

Here's to a fabulous New Year in the coming days!  Cheers!

And Linda of Design in my View, visit her blog here, requested info on this zebra ottoman in a client's house.  We custom designed the ottoman, made here locally in Memphis, & the fabric used is Ralph Lauren Serengeti Zebra Ebony LFY40176F.RL.

It's yummy, a beautiful statement to the center of this space.  I always have to have a little animal sprinkled in a project.

All cleaned up here, tree down, check...Christmas decor gone from sight, check...ready to start a happy & bright 2012!

Every year my brain clicks from happiness of colored lights & chaos on Christmas Day to a need of clean serenity the days to follow.

WISH I was Bewitched & could wiggle my nose & snap my fingers!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And Mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and the eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself,
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Hope Santa's good to you!

We'll talk soon.
